(Continue) Weissbräu, Straits Quay Penang (Part 2) - A True German Taste

We all love good food but admit it, we hate the consequence of having a chronic disease. As for appearance well-being wise, we are totally not into weight gaining. Thus we believe this following dish will have the highest vote from the crowd, especially ladies, when it has all the great enriched taste but without the guilt.

 03. Mussel Seaman

Fresh ingredient needs very little extra to complete because its own undeniably sweet freshness is enough to conquer diners. Carefully boiled in selected white wine, the original taste of blue sea is as close as a sip away. Carrot, garlic, shallot and celery work together to carry the New Zealand mussels to a elevated stage and shine under the spotlight! The combination is just like the beautiful mother earth - the wavy sea and fertilized soil, the most natural food source.

04. Emmentaler
(served with your choice of sidedish: potato salad, garlic mash, spaletzli/roesti, buttered vegetables, saurkraut)

Slowly the course moves to the main attention - meat. And theGerman and Chinese have a similarity - both are pork lover.

Unlike the frankfurter that we usually eat in hotdog, we are talking about real meat sausage here. This dish uses the name of the type of cheese they use - Emmental Cheese, which is not commonly found in any other restaurants because it takes longer time to prepare. The perfectly blended meet and cheese are stuff in a lightly crisped skin. Every bite gives the satisfaction that is totally beyond describe.

All the side dishes are carefully selected to go along with the main attention. If you love orchestra, you will know what is "complimenting each other with its own unique individuality". For instance, potato salad is mixed with pickles, chives, onions and green pea, which enhance the flavorful of the sausage. Some little potato chunks are retained in the smoothy garlic mash to preserve the joy of tasting potato.

Side Dish: (left) Garlic Mash, (right) Spaetzli

For those who love something milder but with depth, you should try their spaetzli (german egg noodle). They are carefully prepared so that you get to taste the fragrant of egg in every scoop you eat.

 05. Crispy German Pork Knuckle
(served with your choice of sidedish: potato salad, garlic mash, spaetzli/roesti, buttered vegetables, sauerkraut)

How can you miss the German Signature Food - Pork Knuckle when you visit a German restaurant? It is like visiting Penang without trying the local hawker food. Their secret recipe gives a boost to the knuckle, at the same time reduce the pork smell. The herbs work together with the deep fried process, it not only reduces the excessive fat but promote the flavor to perfection. And the best side dish of golden Roesti with the crispy and dente bite, as well as the sourness of sauerkraut is a reminder that it is a top of the list preference. That blast in mouth needs no word to describe.(do ask for the light version if you aren't used to the original sauerkraut than to waste the thinly cut and preserved vegetables). Believe us when we say "it is not oily at all!!!"
