Weissbräu, Straits Quay Penang (Part 1) - A True German Taste

Owned by a very dedicated Korean, Wayne, who has very high passion and more than 16 years of experience in this line, Weissbräu (a combination of German word ‘Weiss’ for white and bräu for brew, which refers to as white brew or white beer, most popular and common beer in Germany) is a place to look for when it comes to traditional German food.

Having a strict code of conduct in presenting true German taste as well as taking good care of customers' health, every bite of food is filled with Wayne and his team's concern.

It is not very common to see adherence in principles these days, especially when knowing it costs time and money to prove it right. Thus when seeing Weissbräu is doing a good job in their endeavor and at the same time getting the good and constructive responses from its patrons, deep down we feel happy for them - their effort has pay off. They have gained real appreciation.

From interior design, service to food quality, we present you "Weissbräu - German Bistro and Bar".

01. German Sour Bread

Unlike the bread that we eat everyday, a German Sour Bread has the image of a tough guy - strong in appearance, gentle at heart. With that little sour taste that only appear when it travels to the taste buds to give our tongue the pleasure of sensing the climax of taste, it is definitely a good appetizer.

"It takes more than an hour to bake in order to get the hard crust to protect the moist inside" says Wayne, "well, it costs more but our goal is to preserve the taste".

 02. Honey Baked Ham Sandwich
(served with soup of your choice, Cream of Pumpkin / Tomato Soup with Basil)

A high quality honey baked ham is definitely different from other lower grade ones. And you do not have to be a food critic to tell whether it is tasty or not.

Using German Laugen Bread to serve this very fresh honey baked ham sandwich is a brilliant idea because the ham has its light sweetness that must not be disturbed by strong flavor. Enjoy this very homemade-feel sandwich with either cream of pumpkin or tomato soup with basil.

The silky texture and natural sweetness of cream of pumpkin which has croutons to add up the tastefulness projects a guileless country woman serving the hot steaming soup from her boiling over the woods' pot. Whereas the freshly cooked tomato soup has its taste elevated because of the aroma of basil. How to differentiate it from canned tomato puree? Close your eyes and let the saliva tell you the real taste of preservative free, MSG free and artificial flavor free soup.
