Welcome to Penang!

Being recently voted and chosen as one of the "Top 10 Islands You Must Visit", we, not only as Penangite but also one who loves this little island and wanted so much to show it to the world, feel very very proud. Not to mention our pride got to a very high level when it's capital city Georgetown being awarded a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We find this little piece of land has a lot to tell - the food, the people, the culture, the nature etc. But because it is so small it has quite some difficulties to be noticeable. You know, the beauty of it's diverse but very exotic personality - having all in one but each carry it's own unique characteristic.

That's is why we have no second thought when being invited to hop on the trail of exploring one of the many many interesting routes, organized by Tourism Malaysia, Ministry of Tourism as well as Rapid Penang, aiming at bringing the charm of this little island to each and every visitor.

The 1-day journey is looking at promoting the convenience of public transport in accessing the wonderful places in Penang.Because this little has almost all attractive qualities in one - where shopping meets sightseeing, the distance between sky-scrapers and greenery & white sandy beaches are easily within reached, local delicacies and international cuisines to choose from, and modern & tradition to see, we hope visitors from around the world get to enjoy everything as conveniently as possible.

Our first stop - Kuan Yin Temple. This place of worship located at Pitt Street was built in the year of 1800 where devotees pray to Goddess of Mercy, or also known as Boddhisatva Avalokiteshvara, a figure that portrays compassion and love (for more information about Kuan Yin, please click HERE).

And then we moved on to Penang State Museum - a place to meet and know this lovely turtle-shape island, on how it becomes one of the most rapidly growing states in Malaysia since Sir Francis Light back in 1876 and went through the possession of Japan during World War II until Malaysia Independence in 1957 (For Penang's History, click HERE).

Our journey continued through Kompleks Tunku Abdul Rahman (KOMTAR, a 65-storey tower), where the hub for all Rapid Penang routes to meet before they split up to different directions is located. Thus for tourists who wish to take public transport (besides cab/taxi or trishaw) can either go to Penang Jetty or come here. Any questions about the details of routes can get their answer at these 2 places where a information counter is make available.

Wat Chayamangkalaram the Buddhist temple, is popular of another name - The Reclining Buddha (or Sleeping Buddha) whereby the 180-foot buddha statue, third largest of it's kind is presented to the world.

Right across the street of Wat Chayamangkalaram is a Burmese Temple known as Dhammikarama Temple. Diverse culture between Siamese and Burmese is being described and told in their appearance including the building, color etc.

At lunch we enjoyed the savory Malay food - curry fish head, chilly paste eggplant, fresh vegetables with shrimp paste chilly alongside with thirst-quenching lime juice with sour plum.

The afternoon trip started with Toy Museum - a place where all big children (adults) and young kids love. This World Largest Toy Collection displays thousands of toys and was being archived in Malaysia Book of Records.

The Route 101 of Rapid Penang took us to Taoist and Buddhist temples in the morning. Our trip to sacred and spirituality as well as belief was extended to Islam where we set our feet on a very impressive and beautiful architecture - The Floating Mosque of Tanjung Bungah.

Last but not least, our one-day-tour was wrapped up by Tropical Spice Garden that is located in Batu Ferringgi, a place which is like a big library of herbs.

We would like to extend our heartiest gratitude to all the organizer for such a pleasant and fruitful opportunity. We sincerely look forward to exploring more to bring you more captures!
