How to Choose your Wedding Photographer?

Unlike the old days when a Single-Lens Reflex (SLR) costs a lot, a Digital SLR is comparatively affordable these days. Also, comparing the traditional film photography that needs specially equipment and technique for photo development, a memory card is all it takes. So with all these convenience at fingertip, it is not surprise that an industry has quickly bloom and become common in the market - "wedding photography" - someone with lens-changeable camera come in to capture the moments of your wedding day.

More choice is always a good news for consumer. Why? Because More Choice = More Competition = Better Bargain Power.

So the market is filled with a number of photographers and prices range between extremes. Consumers get to go like shopping. The concern here is: how to determine and decide which one to choose? Because unlike the analog SLR era where photographers have to master the knowledge, skill and technique before turning professional, it is rather difficult to distinguish the real professional from the full-time only in the big pool.

Recommendation from friends and/or relatives is helpful and mostly practiced in the market because others have seen and experienced the photographer's presentation so their words should be credible. However we still think that comments/testimonials are strictly for reference purposes only because preference and taste is very personal. Thus we think it is vital to take the following steps into considerations:

First of all, ask yourself: what is your budget for it? Just like every other industry photography consists too levels. Some does it for a few hundreds while others cost thousands. Having an amount in your mind will save you a lot of trouble.

Secondly, observe their work. They surely have done shooting before. Look at their results and see if you like their style. Photography is an art. It means the style varies accordingly by different photographer. Looking into their work will help you to determine.

Thirdly, talk to them. Sometimes we have to admit: chemistry talks louder. It is very important that you click with the photographer. After all, whether or not the moments of your biggest day is being taken perfectly is all in this particular person's hand. You have got to have that good feeling for this person so that you can rest your trust in him/her when you are occupied and concentrate on that day being the center of attention.

What you really looking for is to get true satisfaction. And a true photographer will deliver you that. So understand your need, work with your budget and have your beautiful moments captured professionally.
